Pastor Belynda B. Gentry is an ordained minister of the gospel. She serves as an Associate Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden under the leadership of Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden since January 1975. Pastor Belynda accepted Christ at the age of 12. In October 1990, she accepted her call from God, into the gospel ministry and was licensed on May 5, 1992. She was ordained on May 14, 2001.
She is the Director of the Communications Ministries Department at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden. Pastor Belynda also serves as the Director of the Global Missions Ministry. She is actively involved in the church’s Prison Ministry at the Maryland Correctional Institute for Women (MCIW) in Jessup, Maryland. Pastor Belynda is a faculty member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden Bible Institute. She also serves as an advisor for the married Couples’ Ministry and for the Women’s Ministry.
Since 1992, Pastor Belynda has traveled extensively across five continents sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Out of God’s calling her to the mission field, Pastor Belynda founded and currently serves as CEO of “Go Ye...” Ministries Worldwide, Inc., an organization dedicated to the spreading of the gospel through preaching and teaching God’s Word and the meeting of the temporal needs of God’s people around the world. She provides consultative services and/or serves as a Mobilizer for churches desiring to mobile their church in carrying out the Great Commission.
Pastor Belynda mentors several ministries: Know the Truth Ministries based in Prince Frederick, Maryland; A Day in God’s Word Ministry, in Capital Heights, Maryland; S.I.S.T.A.S. Mentoring, Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Divine Daughters Ministry in Lanham, Maryland; Branches of the Vine Ministries in Mitchellville, Maryland; Notable Women Ministry in Bowie, Maryland; and LOGOS Heart Ministries, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She also mentors over twenty young women—many of whom affectionately call her "Ma."
Pastor Belynda has conducted workshops on event planning for numerous churches and has facilitated the planning of women’s retreats for churches throughout the Washington metropolitan area. She is a much sought after preacher, teacher, retreat and conference speaker.
Pastor Belynda is the devoted and loving wife of Deacon William G. Gentry, Jr., the mother of four children, grandmother of ten grandchildren and Spiritual mother to many.
Pastor Belynda lives by Psalms 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at ALL times and His praises shall continually be in my mouth.”
